How to install a free standing tub
1. Tools and Materials Needed:
- Pencil
- Measuring tape
- Level
- Silicone
- Drill
- Adjustable wrench
- Hole saw
2. Installation Steps:
Step 1: Positioning the Bathtub
- Use the floor tracing template from the manual to mark the location of the water supply pipes, drain, and P-trap.
- Place the bathtub in the desired location and use adjustable feet to level it.
- Remove the tub and put it on a protective fabric to avoid damage.
Step 2: Faucet Installation on the bathtub (Optional)
- Stick masking tape to the area where you’ll drill to prevent chipping.
- Drill the holes for the faucets and install according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Connect the supply lines for hot and cold water and check for leaks.
Step 3: Drain and Piping Connection
Option 1: Using Flexible Pipe
- Screw the flexible pipe onto the pre-installed bathtub drain using Teflon tape or thread sealant.
- Connect the flexible pipe to the existing floor drain using PVC pipe sealant.
Option 2: Using Flexible P-Trap, not included)
- Screw the P-trap onto the bathtub drain using Teflon tape or thread sealant.
- Connect the flexible tube to the floor drain.
Option 3: Using Regular PVC Piping
- Apply Teflon tape and thread sealant to the bathtub drain.
- Screw the provided adapter and connect a PVC extension tube cut to the desired length to the floor drain.
Step 4: Sealing the Bathtub
- Fill the bathtub with water, let it drain, and check all plumbing for leaks.
- Fix the tub to the floor with adhesive under the edges and feet.
- For a professional finish, apply a bead of silicone around the base of the tub and let it dry for 24 hours.
Maintenance Tips:
- Clean with a lukewarm, wet cloth.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, bleach, or metallic brushes to protect the surface.
