How to Tighten a Vanity Sink Drain and Stop Leaks

How to Tighten a Vanity Sink Drain and Stop Leaks

Hand-tighten the vanity sink drain until it is snug, then test it for leaks. If it still leaks, use pliers or a wrench for only a slight additional turn. Do not overtighten the drain, as excessive force may damage the sink or drain and may cause leaks.

Before You Begin

·   Check the product installation guide to identify the drain component that must be tightened.

·   Inspect the rubber gasket, washer, and other drain parts for damage or wear.

·   Make sure all required drain parts are present before testing the installation.

Tighten and Test the Drain

1. Hand-tighten the drain. Turn it clockwise with your fingers until it is snug. Do not use excessive force.

2. Test for leaks. Turn on the water and let it run for a few minutes. Carefully inspect the drain for signs of leakage.

3. Make a slight adjustment if needed. If the drain leaks, use pliers or a wrench to give it a slight additional turn. Stop once the connection is secure. Do not overtighten.

4. Test again. Run the water for a few minutes and check the drain again.

If the Drain Still Leaks

·   Inspect the rubber gasket, washer, and other drain parts again for damage or wear.

·   Confirm that the parts are installed in the order shown in the product installation guide.

·   If a part is damaged or the leak continues, stop tightening and request assistance.
